Yang Style Tai Chi

The point of reference for the Yang style form is through my teacher, Dr Wang Zhi Xiang of Shanghai. 

Dr Wang’s Yang style can be traced back directly to Yang Cheng Fu through his teachers, first Dong Bing and since 1997 Wang Zhuan Hong who were both students of Dong Yin Jie, a student of Yang Cheng Fu.Wang Zhuan Hong was also a student of Zhu Gui Tien a famous Bagua and Xing Yi master. 

Dr Wang has also studied Xin Yi Quan and Wu style with top Master Wang Hao Da.  Dr Wang emphasises the need for understanding what is energy and the difference between energy and force; and why Taiji uses intention only rather than force.  On the exchange between gravity and energy and the importance of peng2, lu3, ji3 and an4.

 

 

To really study Taijiquan requires the knowledge of the full system which covers five areas:   

 

  1. Study of the fundamental principles of the style,

  2. Study of the form - 85 Yang style

  3. Tui Shou, two-person exercise to develop sensitivity, etc.,

  4. San Shou, also a two-person exercise
  5. Nei Gong to develop inner energy.
